  1. investigating Oct 06, 2026, 07:11 AM UTC

We are observing an elevated number of Internal Service Errors during deployments in Azure, causing them to fail. This impacts Schoolyear AVD-enabled exams. This problem is caused by an issue in Azure and lies outside of the scope of the Schoolyear service. However, we do notify customers when we observe such problems. For further assistance, please reach out to Microsoft directly. If your Exam Orchestration Job fails with an "Internal Server Error" we suggest restarting the deployment manually by clicking "Retry" in job's dashboard and waiting a minute before refreshing the page. Contrary to previous incidents, we have noticed that a single-manual retry resolves the issue in some cases. We will keep monitoring the situation and share any update we have.

  2. investigating Oct 06, 2026, 08:32 AM UTC

Unfortunately, we still see the Internal Service Errors during deployments in Azure at multiple customers. We advise to keep retrying the deployment job and contact Microsoft Support for investigation on why they are returning an Internal Service Error.

  3. monitoring Oct 06, 2026, 12:43 PM UTC

We have seen some successfull initial deployments again, making it look like the Internal Server Errors are not present anymore.

  4. resolved Oct 06, 2026, 03:33 PM UTC

We are no longer seeing Internal Server Errors being returned from Azure and deployments are succeeding again.

  1. investigating Sep 30, 2026, 07:41 AM UTC

We have received a couple of reports that students are stuck an a white screen while launching the AVD exam. We are currently investigating this issue.

  2. identified Sep 30, 2026, 07:55 AM UTC

We have identified that Microsoft has changed some of its domains. As a result, the enforced whitelist now blocks these domains, which prevents exams from starting. We are currently investigating how to update the whitelist and apply the change to existing exams.

  3. monitoring Sep 30, 2026, 08:34 AM UTC

We have identified the new domains and deployed a fix to production that updates the whitelist for both running and scheduled exams. Students who restart the Schoolyear Client will receive the updated whitelist, and the issue should no longer occur.

  4. resolved Sep 30, 2026, 09:35 AM UTC

Since the fix was deployed, we have received no further reports, and exams are starting successfully with AVD again. This confirms the fix is working as intended. The issue seem to be completely resolved now. We will follow up with a post-mortem as soon as possible.

  5. resolved Oct 07, 2026, 12:10 PM UTC

A detailed post-mortem is now available at: https://help.schoolyear.com/hc/en-gb/articles/39707885998493-Incident-Postmortem-on-30-09-2026.

  1. resolved Aug 17, 2026, 09:30 AM UTC

We have temporarily rolled back the no-logout feature on Windows we released on August 4th, due to issues being reported on some personal devices. We took the decision to immediately pull the feature to limit the impact on exams, while we investigate what causes this selection of devices to conflict with our software. Impacted students reported an entire black screen when starting the exam environment, with only their cursor visible. The only way to regain access to the device was by rebooting the machine. Students will now receive a standard auto-update when starting an exam that disables the no-logout functionality, meaning that Windows users will be logged out before starting their exam, just as they did before August 4th. This incident had no impact on the availability of our services. We will send more information about this rollback today in the Release Notes mailing list.

  1. investigating May 12, 2026, 09:16 AM UTC

We are currently investigating an ongoing issue that is causing requests made by integrated test applications to fail with a 401 error. This means that the following functionality may not work as expected: - Scheduling or updating exams through integrated test platforms - Opening the integrated settings widget or opening the dashboard from an integrated application. - Starting an exam as a student - Validating that a student is in a secured exam environment (done by the test application) As soon as we have more information, we will post updated on our status page.

  2. resolved May 12, 2026, 09:16 AM UTC

We have identified the root cause and deployed a fix. We’ve confirmed with several affected customers that services are back to normal. Next Steps: - Users may now retry any actions that failed during the incident. - If you continue to see issues, please refresh your browser. If your issue persists, please reach out to us directly (https://www.schoolyear.com/contact) A full post-mortem investigation is underway to prevent future recurrence.

  1. investigating Jan 16, 2026, 10:25 AM UTC

Image issue: There seems to be an change in the licensing of Microsoft Office causing licensing error in Office 365 applications when opening for example Excel. The students cannot login to these applications and receive an error message. We advise your AVD admins to investigate why this issue occures. Simultaniously, we are also checking if we can assist with this issue from our side.

  2. investigating Jan 16, 2026, 10:49 AM UTC

The issue seems to be related due to a Microsoft change in the activation process of a MS-365 license. Your AVD admins can resolve this issue by updating the network layer of the Office image in order to resolve the issue created by a Microsoft change. In order to help you as much as possible, Schoolyear is separately also looking into updating the template network Office layer so that the AVD admin could use that information if wanted. Once we can share an update about this, we will send an email to all AVD admins directly and will publish the instructions on this page.

  3. monitoring Jan 16, 2026, 11:11 AM UTC

To aid AVD admins in resolving this issue, we have quickly investigated the issue ourself as well and have released instructions for AVD admins on how to resolve this issue. We traced this issue back to an extra FQDN required for Office activation. See the exact changes here (https://github.com/schoolyear/avd-image-community/commit/ff4d3b48c3909e2601e6da78d80deea61b624b6d) To resolve the issue, follow the instructions below: Instructions when using Schoolyear AVD version 2.1: https://github.com/schoolyear/avd-image-community/blob/main/layers/com.schoolyear.win10-office365/README.md#16-jan-2026-update Instructions when using Schoolyear AVD version 1: https://github.com/schoolyear/avd-deployments/blob/main/images/office365/README.md#16-jan-2026-update

  4. resolved Jan 21, 2026, 01:43 PM UTC

The cause of the problem is known and can be resolved by the AVD admin.
