Customers in the Main region may notice intermittent gaps or missing data in the DNS Traffic (PassiveDNS) section of the Whalebone Admin Portal or timeouts when calling API. Affected Services: DNS Traffic dashboards and logs in the portal, API timeouts Unaffected Services: DNS resolution remains fully operational and is not impacted. Other regions are not impacted by this specific issue. We have implemented several infrastructure adjustments to mitigate the impact, and our team is currently working on a permanent fix while continuing to investigate. Next Update: We will provide further information once the permanent fix is deployed and verified. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to your services.

We identified an issue that temporarily halted the processing of data into our reporting system. Our team has resolved the underlying cause and has resumed data processing. Current Status: The system is currently working through a backlog of information. You will see data appearing in your portal incrementally as the system catches up to real-time. Next Update: We will provide a final confirmation once all reporting and alerting services have returned to real-time operation.

  3. resolved Mar 27, 2026, 08:02 AM UTC

The issue has been confirmed to be resolved by extended monitoring, and data processing continues in normal operations.

  1. investigating Feb 21, 2026, 10:24 AM UTC

We are investigating an issue affecting the DNS4EU public resolver in Milan where some .org domain queries may have returned incorrect DNS responses. As a mitigation, we have removed the affected node from service. We are analyzing logs to determine scope and root cause. Next update in 30 minutes (or sooner).

  2. investigating Feb 21, 2026, 11:04 AM UTC

Mitigation remains in place (Milan node out of rotation). Service operating normally via remaining resolvers. Investigation into duration/scope/root cause continues. Next update in 60 minutes (or sooner).

  3. investigating Feb 21, 2026, 12:25 PM UTC

We are preparing to return the Milan DNS4EU resolver node back into service. The node has been checked in isolation and the incorrect .org resolution observed earlier is no longer occurring — DNS queries are resolving correctly now. As a precaution, we have added additional monitoring and alerts so we can quickly detect and respond if the issue happens again. Our investigation is ongoing. Next update will be shared once we have identified the root cause or have more information to share.

  1. investigating Jan 23, 2026, 08:52 AM UTC

We have identified an issue where selected regulatory domains—primarily in the Czechia and Poland regions—that should be blocked based on regulatory feeds are currently not being blocked. We are actively investigating the affected domains and whether other regulatory lists or regions may also be impacted. Impact Regulatory domains that should be blocked may still resolve normally for some customers. Other DNS resolution and protection services remain operational. What We’re Doing Our engineering and operations teams are actively investigating the underlying cause of this enforcement gap. We are reviewing the regulatory list propagation and enforcement logic across resolver regions. Next Update We expect to provide the next update as soon as new information becomes available.

  2. resolved Jan 23, 2026, 01:58 PM UTC

The incident has been resolved, and all regulatory lists are now correctly propagated and enforced on the resolvers. We are currently identifying the root cause and defining measures to prevent similar issues in the future. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

  1. investigating Jan 12, 2026, 11:57 AM UTC

We are investigating an issue causing intermittent Management API timeouts and, in some cases, responses like “invalid combination of access key and secret key.” Impact appears limited to a subset of customers. Our upstream provider is reporting increased network latency/packet loss in the same region (their status page), which is causing these timeouts. No action is required at this time — please do not rotate keys unless instructed by support (the message can be misleading during this degradation). Next update: in 30 minutes (or sooner if status changes).

  2. monitoring Jan 12, 2026, 12:21 PM UTC

In the last ~10 minutes, the Management API has been operating normally and timeouts have subsided. We can see that issue is resolving, but we will keep monitoring closely and are also waiting for confirmation from our cloud provider regarding full recovery in the region.

  3. resolved Jan 12, 2026, 12:31 PM UTC

Our cloud provider has applied mitigations and reports that systems should be back to nominal. We are seeing recovery on our side as well and will continue monitoring to ensure no further issues are observed.

  1. investigating Jan 05, 2026, 11:20 AM UTC

We are investigating an issue causing delayed or missing dashboard data for some customers. This impacts Threat data visibility and DNS traffic dashboards (data may be delayed by ~1 hour or more).

  2. resolved Jan 05, 2026, 02:06 PM UTC

The incident causing delayed or missing dashboard data has been resolved and dashboards are returning to normal. Today we observed two separate impacts: DNS traffic dashboards: Data was delayed due to reduced ingestion performance. Backfill is in progress and delayed DNS data is being filled as time passes. Threat data dashboards: A limited time window was impacted and, unfortunately, some threat events from that window cannot be recovered. We are investigating why monitoring did not alert us as expected and will implement improvements to reduce the chance of similar delayed detection in the future.
