UBC websites and web services may be temporarily unavailable

   UBC is responding to a global critical issue affecting technology used by some websites and web applications. As a precaution, some UBC websites or services may be temporarily unavailable from off-campus while they are assessed and security updates are applied. If a website you are trying to access is unavailable, this may be the reason. UBC IT and distributed IT teams are working to identify affected systems and restore any impacted services as soon as they can be safely returned to operation. No action is required from users at this time. We will be providing updates on a regular basis regarding this issue.

   We are continuing to monitor and patch impacted websites and applications. Users may still experience issues connecting to some websites or applications. Thank you for your patience as we work to restore all services. The following services have been patched and are now fully available: • Canvas • Websites on CMS • UBC Blogs • H5P • Moodle • iPeer • UBC Wiki • Card Scanner The next update will be at 4:30 PM.

3. investigating Oct 22, 2026, 12:17 AM UTC

   We are continuing to apply security updates to affected websites and web applications. Some of these web based services may remain unavailable or experience connection issues while IT teams complete security updates. Please note that some websites and web applications may only be available on campus or through UBC VPN until further notice. Thank you for your patience as we work to restore all services.
