Major July 14, 2026 App Store reviews mistakenly marked as deleted (Apple-side issue) 15d 23h Reply to Reviews

Started Jul 14, 2026, 05:17 PM UTC· resolved Jul 30, 2026, 05:16 PM UTC

  1. investigating Jul 14, 2026, 05:17 PM UTC

Since June 30, Apple's App Store review service has been intermittently reporting some existing reviews as "not found". As a result, some App Store reviews may temporarily appear as deleted in AppFollow, and replies to them may be delayed. The issue is on Apple's side, it is reproducible directly in Apple's own developer console (App Store Connect) and is not specific to AppFollow. We are rolling out a workaround, will restore all affected reviews, and will deliver the pending replies. No action is needed on your side.

  2. monitoring Jul 21, 2026, 05:13 PM UTC

Steps implemented: • Shipped a workaround that retries reviews not found instead of immediately marking a review as deleted. • Restored the reviews that were incorrectly marked as deleted and re-sent all replies that had failed / been incorrectly detected. • Hardened our reply mechanism and strategy so we're less dependent on this kind of Apple-side instability going forward. We'll keep monitoring the situation. If users notice any reviews or replies that still look incorrectly marked, please reach out to support at [email protected]

  3. monitoring Jul 23, 2026, 08:28 AM UTC

The App Store is currently experiencing an issue where it may incorrectly report that a review cannot be found. To minimize the impact, we've increased the number of retry attempts on our end to help ensure replies are delivered successfully. As a result, some replies may remain in the "Processing reply" status longer than usual. This is expected while the issue persists. Once the App Store resolves the issue on its end, reply delivery times will return to normal automatically.

  4. resolved Jul 30, 2026, 05:16 PM UTC

    This incident has been resolved.

Notice January 26, 2026 Temporary Reviews Feed Unavailability 30m

  1. resolved Jan 28, 2026, 01:56 PM UTC

We experienced a global incident lasting about 30 minutes, during which the reviews feed may have been unavailable for a small number of users. The issue has been resolved, and all services are operating normally.

  2. postmortem Jan 28, 2026, 01:59 PM UTC

**Summary** We experienced a brief global incident that caused the reviews feed to be unavailable for a small number of users. The issue lasted approximately 30 minutes and has been fully resolved. **Root Cause** A database connection limit was reached due to a MySQL configuration issue. The service user responsible for reply-to-review operations inherited a global connection limit, which was exceeded during a short load spike. This resulted in temporary errors. We are also investigating a possible accumulation of idle database connections that may have increased the likelihood of hitting this limit. **Resolution** The connection limit for the affected service user was increased and applied consistently across all databases. This immediately removed the bottleneck and restored normal operation. **Prevention Measures** To avoid similar incidents in the future, we are: * Explicitly configuring database connection limits per service and environment * Adding monitoring and alerts for per-user database connection usage * Reviewing database connection pooling and autoscaling behavior * Investigating and addressing potential connection leaks in backend services We apologize for the disruption and appreciate your patience while we worked to resolve the issue.
