SAP Concur incident
Expense, Travel, Invoice, Request, Imaging, Analysis/Intelligence: P1
Resolved after 1 hour 18 minutes, affecting Analysis/Intelligence and Expense and 1 more, on August 2, 2026.
Impact as Reported: A functional degradation that affected the availability of the Concur application in the Concur Cloud for Public Sector (CCPS) data center was identified. When users attempted to access the Concur application, they may have received the following error message: "An error occurred while processing your request." The error was displayed before the login page loaded, preventing users from accessing the application. Users who were already logged in during the impact window may have experienced an error while accessing the application. Refreshing the page may have allowed affected users to regain access to the Concur application. Root Cause: Following the detection of a service degradation through internal monitoring, the Incident Response Team identified an expired certificate on an ingress network device. This issue impacted the establishment of new connections for traffic originating from the SAP Concur CDN. A new valid certificate was deployed, fully restoring service. A subsequent investigation determined that gaps in both processes and monitoring contributed to the responsible team not completing the required certificate rotation before the certificate's expiration date. Corrective actions have been identified to address these shortcomings and prevent recurrence. Corrective Actions: The following corrective and preventive measures have been identified: -A comprehensive audit of all manually managed certificates will be conducted to ensure the certificate inventory and associated expiration dates are accurate and up to date. -Additional monitoring will be implemented on all network devices hosting certificates to generate alerts before a certificate reaches its expiration date. -The creation of work items for the rotation of manually managed certificates will be automated to reduce the risk of certificate renewal activities being missed. -Existing automation used for the rotation of internally issued certificates will be expanded to include externally issued certificates.
