Kingston University incident
Network Transformation Project - Critical Network Migration
Resolved after 1 day 8 hours, affecting Network, on October 10, 2026.
As part of our Network Transformation Programme, we will be migrating our Internet Connectivity to a new network platform. This is a critical infrastructure upgrade and will take place during the scheduled maintenance window. Date: Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th of October Time: 08:00 – 16:00 Expected Impact Network services will be affected during the change window as the migration is carried out. While every effort will be made to minimise disruption, users may experience brief periods of reduced connectivity to some services, including: • Temporary interruption to internet access • Short-term loss of access to network resources • Intermittent availability of business applications • VPN sessions may disconnect and require reconnection During the migration, some university services that rely on network connectivity may experience a short interruption. Connectivity is expected to be restored automatically once the migration is complete, and most users should reconnect without any action being required. What You Need to Do • Avoid scheduling network-dependent activities during this period. • Restart your device if you experience connectivity issues after the migration. • Report any ongoing issues to the IT Service Desk after the maintenance window has concluded. Support The Project and Network Teams will actively manage and monitor the migration throughout the change window to minimise disruption and restore services as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete this important infrastructure upgrade.
