  1. investigating Oct 20, 2025, 03:39 PM UTC

A major Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage is impacting a large portion of online services, from banking to social media to online shopping. This outage is being covered closely by global media outlets. We are monitoring this situation and assessing the impact on GiveCampus. As of 11:39am ET on Monday, October 20, most platform capabilities are fully operational: the platform continues to successfully process non-Venmo online gifts and event registrations, volunteers are able to log in and send emails, and frontline fundraisers can still access their portfolios and workflow tools. Some platform capabilities have been or are being intermittently impacted. If you experience any issues accessing or using GiveCampus, please email [email protected] so that we can investigate further. We are doing everything we can to mitigate the impact of this AWS outage to the maximum extent possible. We will provide updates as we receive them from AWS.

GiveCampus community – as you likely have seen reported in global media outlets, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has been experiencing a major outage today that has been impacting a large portion of online services. We have been monitoring the AWS outage throughout the day and taken all feasible steps to mitigate and minimize the effect on the GiveCampus platform. Most platform capabilities have been fully operational: the platform has been successfully processing online gifts and event registrations, volunteers have been able to log in and send emails, and frontline fundraisers have been able to access their portfolios and workflow tools. Our team is working diligently to ensure that this event has minimal impact, and we stand ready to assist you in any way. Here is a current assessment of impacted platform components: (1) GC Online Giving: Smart Segments and Smart Ask Amounts may be delayed; Leaderboards may not refresh in real-time; Venmo has been restored as of ~45 minutes ago (2) GC Outreach Email & Texting: Schedule-sent emails or texts may be delayed up to 30 minutes but will still send as planned (3) Data Pipelines: Our School-Level Data Importer for sending data to GiveCampus may be delayed or have intermittent issues, as well as our GC Volunteer Management import into GiveCampus - Our APIs including pulling gift history and event registrations from our API will continue to function as designed - Our NXT Integration is seeing intermittent issues; please consult this page and Blackbaud’s status page for more information - Donation reports in SFTP will continue to function as designed
