Mobile API endpoints experienced intermittent 500 errors starting at 6:57 AM EDT on April 9. This was caused by a Rails 8.1 regression where a change in how ActiveSupport::CurrentAttributes managed state between requests caused crashes in OpenTelemetry instrumentation. Affected workers returned errors on every request, including health checks, causing pods to restart repeatedly. The root cause was identified at 7:45 AM EDT, and a fix was deployed. This issue should have had a status page entry since it impacted customers using the mobile app.

The issue was caused by application servers returning 500 errors due to a combination of unoptimized database queries and a framework regression that affected health checks, causing pods to cycle. Multiple engineering teams responded and deployed a fix. Root cause: A Rails 8.1 upgrade changed how internal state was managed between requests, causing intermittent crashes. This was compounded by high-frequency queries that increased database load. Both issues have been patched.

## Degraded Performance on March 17th, 2026. **Incident Summary** Between **17:00 UTC and 18:20 UTC**, we experienced a **partial outage and degraded performance** across the platform. During this time, some actions may have been slow to load or temporarily unresponsive. **Root Cause** The issue was caused by a disruption in one of our supporting database services.
