- postmortem Jul 25, 2025, 08:00 PM UTC
**Friday 25th July 2025 from 09:18 UTC - 11:52 UTC** Today with the introduction of **The Online UK Safety Act**, **Yoti** experienced significant and unanticipated levels of traffic. This unprecedented demand led to a substantial increase in latency across our backend services, causing disruption for our users. Customers would have experienced slower response times, and approximately 4.5-5% of users may have encountered errors during this period. The root cause was identified as a sharp increase in service usage on Yoti’s internal network, to mitigate against this impact and to restore performance we rapidly scaled up our services to include a secondary datacenter to help alleviate the latency issues. We apologise for any inconvenience this outage has caused our customers and we are committed to ensuring the stability and reliability of our services.
