Is TherapyNotes down?

In 2024, the Department of Health and Human Services released a final rule updating the regulations around the use and disclosure of substance use disorder treatment records. Commonly known as “Part 2” records (as the regulations are found at 42 CFR Part 2), these records are subject to different standards than other mental or physical health treatment records. The goal of this final rule was to bring these standards closer to alignment with existing HIPAA regulations, allowing for a reduction in administrative burden and more focus on quality care.

As with all maintenance releases, TherapyNotes® 2026.01 includes numerous system-wide improvements, including bug fixes, performance enhancements, and usability adjustments. This release also includes additional features that will be announced and enabled next week. Here are some noteworthy updates available now.

We’ve introduced a redesigned Secure Messaging experience along with additional updates to help streamline your workflow. These improvements make it easier to manage conversations and organize document requests to spend less time navigating and more time focused on client care.

The updated medication management experience is now available to all practices this week. Enhancements include a unified medication list, clearer status indicators, and improved workflows for documenting medication changes. Clinicians and patients can now search and add medications and supplements to notes and forms using the UMLS® RxNorm database, a standardized, clinically validated source updated monthly—while also retaining the ability to enter custom text.
