Open Athens Authentication Issues

   Sage has been working towards a single-sign-on solution for our customers that will allow users to move between our learning resource platforms without needing to re-enter their institutional or individual credentials. The work was complex, but thoroughly tested within our staging environments before the release on April 3, 2024. Unfortunately, a coding change was required when we moved the work from our staging sites to our live sites which disrupted our OpenAthens service. We immediately began troubleshooting the issue with the OpenAthens team; however, the back and forth between our developers and their developers took several days and we were unable to pinpoint the exact problem until late last week. Since then, we have uncovered the issue and built the solution to remediate the problem, with a plan to release the update very soon.

   OpenAthens authentication is NOW FIXED for the following sites: - Sage Research Methods - Sage Business Cases - Sage Business Foundations - Sage Business Skills - Sage Student Success - Sage Video - Sage Campus - CQ Researcher - CQ Press Books - Sage Reference & Academic Books This includes direct links into the site (utilizing go.openathens.net or connect.openathens.net), as well as users who come directly to the site and enter their credentials using the "Access via your institution" method. We are still remediating the OpenAthens issues related to Sage Data (this will be fixed by 4/24) and any direct links to library.cqpress.com (this will be fixed by 4/24). For CQ Press products, users may update their OpenAthens links to go to the new CQ Press landing page (https://cqpress.sagepub.com) and this will also fix any existing authentication issues.

   Update: OpenAthens authentication is NOW FIXED for the following sites: Sage Research Methods Sage Business Cases Sage Business Foundations Sage Business Skills Sage Student Success Sage Video Sage Campus (an update was made to fix OpenAthens links related to institutional registration) CQ Researcher CQ Press Books CQ Library Products Sage Reference & Academic Books The new Sage Learning Resources home page Universal Search This includes direct links into the site (wayfless or redirector links utilizing go.openathens.net or connect.openathens.net), as well as users who come directly to the site and enter their credentials using the “Access via your institution” method. The OpenAthens fix for Sage Data is expected to go live tomorrow, April 24, 2024.

   Final Update: The OpenAthens authentication issues are resolved for all Sage Learning Resources. This includes direct links into the site (wayfless or redirector links utilizing go.openathens.net or connect.openathens.net), as well as users who come directly to the site and enter their credentials using the “Access via your institution” method.
