  1. identified Sep 16, 2025, 08:09 PM UTC

Our engineering team has identified an issue with Mac devices upgrading to macOS 26 (Tahoe) despite having a policy in place to defer major upgrades. This has occurred for companies with an OS update policy that has both deferral and major upgrade enforcement settings in place. We are in the process of implementing a fix for this issue. For devices that have not already upgraded, the fix will also prevent these devices from upgrading.

  2. monitoring Sep 17, 2025, 12:30 AM UTC

A fix has been implemented going forward, and we are monitoring the results. We are also running a migration in batches to ensure affected devices have the correct OS update settings on the device.

    - We are confident that this issue is affecting WiFi policies, and not other policies - The issue is affecting approximately 200 companies - Based on our investigation so far, se believe there is a race condition that is resulting in some WiFi policies being removed - We have a code change ready to deploy that will mitigate most of the issue as we continue to investigate the root cause - Our engineering team will continue to investigate overnight, and we will come back with another update first in the morning
