  1. investigating Feb 23, 2022, 02:19 AM UTC

We have identified some issues affecting AU - MT messages (outbound), where some MT messages are being delivered multiple times to destination handsets causing spam-like behaviour but these are valid messages and were meant to only deliver once. These message logs would show with incorrect delivery receipt of either 'rejected' or not have a final delivery status in the Optus SMS Suite mobile report. Due to carrier issues, we also have a backlog of unaccepted messages waiting to be accepted by Optus for delivery causing a delay in the final delivery of messages. We will continue to retry these messages for successful delivery. This issue does not affect the actual delivery of the SMS but has caused a degraded performance to the final delivery stage of the SMS life cycle. We have raised this with our carrier for investigation and are waiting for an update. We will update here as soon as we have more information. If you have questions or concerns regarding this matter please email your request to [email protected]

  2. investigating Feb 23, 2022, 04:20 AM UTC

We are still seeing delays for AU - MT messages (outbound) however the delays are inconsistent and is affecting a small volume of MTs. Our carrier is continuing to investigate the issue, once found they will implement a fix as soon as possible. We will update here as soon as we have more information. If you have questions or concerns regarding this matter please email your request to [email protected]

  3. monitoring Feb 23, 2022, 07:52 AM UTC

We have noticed that the issue has stopped occurring and has been stable but we will keep monitoring for now.

  4. resolved Feb 24, 2022, 04:56 AM UTC

The issue with our carrier has stabilised and we aren't seeing anymore AU - MT messages (outbound) experiencing delays or multiple deliveries to handsets. The issue started approx at 2022-02-22 23:40:40 AEST and ended at 2022-02-23 14:10 AEST. We still have this raised with our carrier and they are continuing to isolate the cause and provide an incident report. Messages have been flowing normally since the end of the incident an we are now marking this issue as resolved. Our apologies for the inconvenience this has caused and thank you for your continued patience. If you are still facing issues or for any related queries regarding this issue, kindly raise a ticket to [email protected]
