Recovery efforts at the Amsterdam (AER) secondary data center are actively ongoing, and our Operations and Engineering teams remain highly focused on restoring service functionality. Based on current assessments, our estimated timeline for full recovery of the AER data center remains tentatively targeted for later this week, contingent upon the successful restoration of power at the facility. While recovery efforts continue, some customers may observe the following expected behaviors within their environment: • Configuration Synchronization Errors: Customers may encounter errors when making administrative configuration changes. This occurs because the active nodes are attempting to synchronize configurations with the offline site. This is normal behavior and can be safely ignored. Once service is fully restored, the cluster will automatically re-sync all configuration changes. • Upstream MTA Connection Errors: Upstream Mail Transfer Agents (MTAs) may log connection errors when attempting to route traffic to the offline data center. However, based on standard SMTP and DNS MX record lookup sequences, customer MTAs should automatically failover and route traffic to the operational data center. Customers who require immediate assistance or have further questions should reach out to Cisco Support. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding.

To help ensure a safe and stable recovery, Cisco Cloud Email Security (CES) Operations and Engineering teams are bringing up CES systems and infrastructure in a carefully phased approach. This deliberate sequence is designed to help minimize operational risk, ensure infrastructure stability, and safely restore full-service functionality. Startin g at 22:00 UTC, CES Operations and Engineering teams will begin a phased process to bring o utbound email processing online from the Amsterdam (AER) secondary datacenter. Inbound email processing will be restored in a subsequent phase to be communicated in a future status update. While these recovery efforts continue, some customers may observe the following expected behaviors within their environment : Configuration Synchronization Errors: Customers may encounter errors when making administrative configuration changes. This occurs because the active nodes are attempting to synchronize configurations with the offline site. This is normal behavior and can be safely ignored. Once service is fully restored, the cluster will automatically re-sync all configuration changes. Mail Routing and Upstream MTA Connection Errors: Upstream Mail Transfer Agents (MTAs) may log connection errors when attempting to route traffic to the offline data center. However, based on standard SMTP and DNS MX record lookup sequences, customer MTAs should automatically failover and route traffic to the operational data center. Bounce notifications (NDRs): As services continue to recover and message processing resumes, some customers may observe delayed messages being returned or bounced. In certain cases, messages that have remained queued for more than 72 hours may exceed retry or expiration of thresholds defined by sending systems or downstream mail servers. We recommend customers review any critical email traffic that may require retransmission once normal processing has been fully restored. Our teams are closely monitoring the environment as systems come back online. We will provide another update once the power-up sequence is complete, and services have been fully validated. Customers who require immediate assistance or have further questions should reach out to Cisco Support. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding.
