Between 21:07 and 21:28 UTC on 4 November 2026, many pages on Verified Handles failed to load or showed an error. Some pages kept working because they were served from our cache, but searches, entry histories, edits and signed-in pages were unavailable. The cause was a maintenance task that used too much of the server's memory. Our database shut down and did not restart on its own. We restarted it and the site has been working normally since 21:28 UTC. No submitted data was lost. We are changing how the database recovers from this kind of fault so it comes back on its own. We're also tightening how maintenance tasks run on the live server. We're sorry for the disruption. Thank you for your patience.
