Telesmart experienced a minor incident on December 15, 2022 affecting NZ Datacentre - Datacom Kapua, Hamilton (KAP) and NZ Datacentre - Murphy Street, Thorndon, Wellington (ATT) and 1 more component, lasting 14h 27m. The incident has been resolved; the full update timeline is below.

Telesmart would like to inform you that we are experiencing a fibre cut on one of our main backhaul services between Auckland and Wellington. As a result the remaining backhaul paths are carrying higher than normal loads and some degraded performance is being observed. Our technical team has been dispatched and are currently investigating. Our backhaul supplier has identified the issue as a fibre cut affecting multiple NZ carriers. Damage to the fibre was caused by roadworks in the Whitford area. Estimated time of resolution: Will advise ASAP Next communication: 30 minutes

Civil contractors are currently onsite excavating the damaged cable. Once the excavation is completed, technicians will be able to commence restoration activities.
