    Since August 27, we have observed intermittent spikes in 500 errors affecting api.web3modal.org and explorer-api.walletconnect.org. The underlying issue is related to our database, which is experiencing sudden surges in client connections. Our engineering team is actively investigating and continuing root cause analysis to mitigate the impact. Users may experience intermittent failures when interacting with the Explorer API and Web3Modal API during these periods. We will provide updates as we learn more.

    On November 4 at 3PM UTC, we implemented a semantic versioning (semver) check on the SDK version header on api.web3modal.com. As a result, requests from React Native SDK clients that were not cached received 500 errors. The issue was resolved by November 5 at 8AM, and React Native client requests have resumed normal processing.

    The service that serves the data for the wallet listings (api.web3modal.com) has been returning an elevated amount of 500 errors. We introduced a bug when we updated our database schema through a migration. We were able to identify and fix the issue within 15 minutes. All systems are back to normal.

    As a response from the incident we had with our SMTP provider (https://status.walletconnect.com/incidents/627p5vl669x0), we decided to use a new provider for the Cloud dashboard. However our new SMTP provider suspended our account because of a false alarm on their anomaly detection system. We've now resolved the issue and emails are being delivered again. We've resent Sign Up confirmation emails to affected users. We apologize for the inconvenience and we'll work on improving the resilience of our systems so that this doesn't happen again.
