Earlier today we identified an issue that is delaying the overnight retrieval that refreshes the data displayed in Dropout Detective and Instructor Insight. The dashboards are still available, but for many of you, the data displayed is from yesterday and the page load time may be slower than normal. The delayed retrievals are related to an ongoing outage with one of our service providers – Heroku, a cloud platform for running applications like our solutions. Heroku is providing status updates here for users who are interested in following their progress. As soon as Heroku service has been restored, the retrievals will complete. We will send an update at 10:00am ET to keep you informed. Thank you for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience experienced as a result of this event.

We are seeing our retrievals return to normal and will be watching them closely over the next few hours to ensure that they complete. On the bottom of your dashboard, there is a timestamp of the most recent retrieval. When the timestamp reflects today’s date, your retrieval has completed. Heroku’s outage this morning stemmed from a much larger issue that affected millions of companies and people. A global denial of service (DDos) attack against a DNS company caused havoc with many major websites reportedly unavailable, including Twitter, Reddit, AirBnB, PayPal, Netflix, and Heroku. Again, thank you for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience experienced as a result of this event.

Some users experienced outages over the past few hours. Access has been restored to both Dropout Detective and Instructor Insight. The majority of retrievals have completed. We are continuing to work on updating those that have not. Just as you rely on us, we rely on the stability of our service providers - many of which are experiencing the effects of a second DDoS attack that occurred around 12:30pm today. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we do everything possible to work around the internet outages affecting so many companies and people today.

Access has remained stable since our last update. All but a handful of retrievals have successfully completed without any concerns. Our team will continue to watch over those remaining retrievals. We realize at this time of the day, it's not likely that there will be heavy usage of those retrievals - but it is important to us that you have a consistent graph in the historical charts in Dropout Detective and Instructor Insight (i.e. not a missing day). We're comfortable in closing this incident, but will keep a very keen eye on things over the weekend. We will keep you informed via this status page if any issues are identified.
