    We've found and fixed the cause. Sites are loading normally again. We're monitoring to make sure the fix holds.

    This issue is resolved. Sites, sign-in and checkout have been working normally since 5:04 PM MDT (23:04 UTC). Between 4:44 PM and 5:04 PM MDT (22:44–23:04 UTC), most requests to our storefronts failed or timed out. Pages did not load, and shoppers could not sign in, use their cart or complete checkout. Any checkout that failed during this window was not completed. Shoppers who were affected can try again now.

There were intermittent service disruptions for some sites and applications between 12:41pm ET to 12:56pm ET. Service has been restored and is currently operating normally.     Between 9:00 AM PT and 9:55 AM PT we received a large number of requests that consumed all our available resources and prevented other requests from being served. As a result during that time frame, other incoming requests were denied service, which blocked sites from effective usage. We have mitigated the immediate cause of the traffic and will be rolling out additional mitigation and prevention safeguards in the coming days.

    There is an external issue with Google's authentication service that is preventing a subset of users from logging in via SSO. This is a broader issue that is affecting services other than Archive as well. Email/password authentication still works. We're monitoring the scope and waiting on the broader fix by Google.
