- postmortem Mar 27, 2026, 06:55 PM UTC
On March 18, 2026, at 18:55 UTC, our monitoring detected that the eu2: Data Center - Germany region was unavailable. During this time, customers could still log in to Anaplan, but they were unable to access their workspaces or models. The issue lasted approximately 33 minutes. **Root cause** As part of routine maintenance, a network configuration required for internal system communication was unintentionally cleared. As a result, systems in the eu2: Data Center - Germany region couldn't connect to other services. This stopped customers from accessing their workspaces and models. **Recovery** Our engineering team identified the issue and took immediate action. The team isolated the problem to a specific network configuration that had been cleared during the maintenance. Once the missing configuration was restored, system communication resumed and services began recovering across the region. By 19:28 UTC, the issue was fully resolved, and customers could access their workspaces and models. **Corrective and preventative actions** We're implementing the following actions to prevent recurrence: * We're reviewing our infrastructure configuration practices to establish standardized procedures that protect critical settings during maintenance. This ensures essential configurations aren't lost during routine work. * We're strengthening our alerting to detect when critical configurations are unintentionally changed during maintenance. This allows us to catch and correct issues before they impact customers. * We're establishing regular infrastructure resilience testing to validate system behavior after maintenance. This reduces the risk of unexpected issues during future maintenance. **Closing** We apologize for the impact this issue has had on your operations. We're committed to the improvements outlined above to prevent similar disruptions. If you have questions or concerns, please contact [Support](https://support.anaplan.com/).
