- postmortem Mar 30, 2026, 05:20 PM UTC
On March 19, 2026, at 02:48 UTC, our monitoring detected that the eu2: Data Center - Germany region was unavailable. During this time, customers could still log in to Anaplan but attempts to access workspaces or models resulted in errors. **Root cause** While our engineering team was performing remediation work to update a configuration in the eu2: Data Center - Germany region, a service was temporarily stopped as part of the standard remediation procedure. A dependency between this service and another service responsible for routing internal requests caused the second service also to stop. This prevented customer requests from reaching their workspaces and models. **Recovery** Our engineering team identified the issue and took immediate action. The team determined that the service dependency had caused the routing service to stop alongside the service that was intentionally paused. Once the team re-enabled the affected service, internal request routing resumed and customer access was restored across the region. By 03:50 UTC, the issue was fully resolved, and customers could access their workspaces and models. **Corrective and preventative actions** We're implementing the following actions to prevent recurrence: * We're building redundancy into our internal request routing so that multiple paths are available for processing requests. This ensures that if one service is temporarily unavailable, customer requests can still be processed. * We're auditing our infrastructure configuration dependencies to verify they're fully documented as part of our operational runbooks. This ensures remediation steps account for all connected services. * We're implementing additional alerting at the infrastructure level to detect when internal services are unexpectedly stopped. This reduces the time between a service disruption and our team's response. **Closing** We apologize for the impact this issue has had on your operations. We're committed to the improvements outlined above to prevent similar disruptions. If you have questions or concerns, please contact [Support](https://support.anaplan.com/).
