    • monitoring · Nov 06, 2026, 11:19 PM UTC

We are experiencing elevated launch failures in the US-WEST-2 Region caused by an issue with the EBS service. Services that depend on EBS or EC2 will experience failure rates of their own. We are working to mitigate the issues. We will provide you with another update by 4:00 PM PST or sooner if new information becomes available.

    • monitoring · Nov 07, 2026, 12:08 AM UTC

We can confirm EC2 instance launch failures affecting all AZs (usw2-az1, usw2-az2, usw2-az3, usw2-az4) in the US-WEST-2 Region. We have identified the issue to be caused by a subsystem that supports EBS Volumes required during instance launch. Services that instantiate new instances, such as cross-region data copy for DataSync, within the US-WEST-2 Region as either the source or destination are also affected. We recommend that customers do not mutate running instances at this time that would result in the replacement or creation of a new EC2 instance in the Region. Running EC2 instances and already created EBS volumes continue to operate as normal. We are seeing early signs of recovery, and continue to take steps to restore launches within the Region. We will update this post by 5:30 PM PST or earlier if we have new information to share.

    • resolved · Nov 07, 2026, 01:12 AM UTC

Between 2:35 PM and 4:21 PM PST, we experienced elevated EC2 instance launch failures affecting all AZs (usw2-az1, usw2-az2, usw2-az3, usw2-az4) in the US-WEST-2 Region. EC2 Instance Launches, AWS services that instantiated new instances, as well as services such as DataSync or AWS Backup which require new instances to support data transfers to or from the US-WEST-2 Region were affected. Our engineers were automatically engaged and immediately began investigating the root cause. We identified the issue to be caused by a subsystem that supports EBS Volumes required during instance launch. We began remediation of that issue at 3:20 PM, and completed full recovery at 4:21 PM. We recommend customers retry requests that failed during this time. Running EC2 instances and already created EBS volumes were not impacted and continued to operate as normal. The issue has been resolved and all AWS services are now operating normally.

Between 7:27 AM and 8:47 AM PDT, and between 10:47 AM and 4:15 PM PDT, we experienced intermittent invoke error rates and latencies for HTTP APIs in the US-WEST-2 Region. During this time, customers would have observed increased latency or errors when invoking HTTP APIs, with elevated errors occurring between 3:12 PM and 3:45 PM PDT. This represented the period of highest customer impact with the majority of affected customers experiencing errors or increased latencies during this window. Majority of retry attempts for affected requests were succeeding. We communicated to impacted customers via the Your Account view of the AWS Health Dashboard during both impact windows. We identified the root cause to be an issue with an internal subsystem and by 3:45 PM we applied the necessary mitigation actions to remediate the issue. By 4:00 PM, we saw initial signs of recovery and continued to monitor for sustained recovery. We confirmed full recovery at 4:15 PM. We recommend that customers retry failed requests. The issue is resolved and the service is operating normally.

We are experiencing elevated packet loss with a single Availability Zone (eus2-az1) in the EU-SOUTH-2 Region. This issue is also resulting in elevated API latencies and error rates for other workflows and AWS Services. Engineers were automatically engaged and are working to identify the root cause and to mitigate the issue. We will provide you with another update by 10:15 AM PDT or sooner as new information becomes available.

    • monitoring · Oct 04, 2026, 05:06 PM UTC

Our efforts to mitigate the elevated packet loss with a single Availability Zone (eus2-az1) in the EU-SOUTH-2 Region is still underway. We are seeing some signs of improvement as a result of multiple parallel efforts. We continue to work to confirm root cause and fully mitigate the issue. While we currently do not have an estimate for how long our actions will take, we will keep you informed of our progress and provide you with another update by 11:00 AM PDT or sooner as new information becomes available.
