Update timeline

  1. investigating Sep 15, 2025, 09:04 AM UTC

We see intermittent periods with a significant fraction (0-20%) of failed requests to ftp.ripe.net or data.ris.ripe.net. The failures occur both before and after the connection establishes, on both IPv4 and IPv6. We are currently investigating this issue.

  2. investigating Sep 16, 2025, 10:38 AM UTC

We are continuing to work on this issue.

  3. investigating Sep 21, 2025, 12:37 AM UTC

We are aware that the error rate is significant during some periods, effectively leading to a service outage. Unfortunately, the root cause seems to be multi-faceted, preventing a fast resolution. We are continuing to investigate this issue. We apologise to third parties receiving alerts due to this issue. We aim to provide a update by Tuesday.

  4. investigating Sep 21, 2025, 06:47 AM UTC

The error rate has decreased since 01:30 UTC.

  5. identified Sep 22, 2025, 05:56 PM UTC

We applied a possible mitigation and are monitoring its effects.

  6. resolved Sep 25, 2025, 10:54 AM UTC

Our mitigation on the 23rd solved the root cause of this incident. This incident has been resolved.
