Incident Summary – Proton Docs & Sheets Service Outage Date & Time: 15:20 CET – 17:05 CET, partial outage 17:05-19:30 CET Impact: Users were unable to access Proton Docs and Proton Sheets during the incident window. Root Cause: A faulty client deployment introduced an error in the retry logic, which caused an excessive number of retries and resulted in an overload of our systems. This prevented users from successfully connecting to the service.Resolution: The system was restarted to disconnect the faulty clients, allowing us to stabilize the platform. Users were able to begin reconnecting from 17:05 CET as the issue was partially mitigated. Users reconnected automatically over the next hour as the fix was rolled out. Additional work will continue this weekend to increase overall system capacity and add safeguards to avoid a repeat of this incident. If you still encounter issues, please reload the browser tab to restore access. Status: The incident is now closed. Proton Docs and Sheets are fully operational.
