The Lumen Network Operations Center (NOC) was engaged to investigate the failure. Initial investigations suggested a fiber fault to be the source of the service interruption. After further investigation by the Outside Plant Engineer (OSPE), services were found to be impacted by an ongoing fiber cut. Repair teams are onsite at the partially damaged 288-count fiber cable, which was damaged by vandalism. It was determined there is not enough slack cable available to be used for the repairs, so approximately 5000 feet of cable will need to be replaced. Efforts are now underway to pull the replacement fiber cable into place. Once the cable is in place, the splice team can begin preparing it for splicing, which is expected to begin by 10:20pm.
