  2. monitoring Jan 18, 2018, 09:14 PM UTC

We have brought all systems online and are monitoring performance.

  3. resolved Jan 18, 2018, 10:02 PM UTC

We have officially resolved the issue. The outage occurred during a routine software update to our servers which passed all checks prior to production. The error did not occur with the contents of the update itself but rather the build process of our servers. Production is currently running with the latest updates and features. We will continue to investigate the root cause of the build failure.

  4. postmortem Jul 30, 2018, 08:42 PM UTC

As you recall, we informed you earlier this month of two security flaws dubbed Meltdown and Spectre impacting the technology industry. Since then, our Development Operations team has been diligently reviewing and updating our software deployment process as well as our server packages to ensure we have the latest protections against these cyber threats. During this update, our team implemented a manual change in our software building process. This change corrected a communication problem taking place between our application servers and our database servers. However, the change was not properly updated in production. This resulted in a 12-minute outage on January 18, 2018 while we corrected the issue. We have since automated our build process to include this change and have performed several tests that confirm the issue has been permanently resolved. While this issue has been fully resolved, we value transparency and open communication with our customers.
