# **What happened** On October 26, 2025, between approximately 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM EDT, some Vimeo OTT users experienced downtime, instability, and slow loading when browsing, making purchases, managing accounts, or using the embedded OTT player. # **What caused it** A background process consumed more system resources than expected, which caused a slowdown across parts of the Vimeo OTT platform. As traffic increased, performance significantly degraded. # **How we responded** Internal monitoring alerted us to the incident once the lag in performance reached a certain threshold, and we immediately began investigating. After identifying the source of the resource strain, we added capacity to stabilize performance, and Vimeo OTT returned to normal operation. # **What we’re doing to prevent a recurrence** We’re adding extra database capacity for better handling of influxes of traffic, improving our internal monitoring to provide more holistic and actionable data under similar circumstances and better insight into database resource usage, and optimizing the configuration of our data infrastructure.
