Update timeline

  1. investigating Feb 18, 2021, 04:03 PM UTC

We are currently investigating an issue with connectivity to services in our EAST-1 location. Additional updates to be provided as we have more information.

  2. identified Feb 18, 2021, 04:26 PM UTC

We have identified that the outage is due to a service issue with our network provider for the EAST-1 site. We are currently working with the provider to restore service as soon as possible and will continue to provide updates as they are available.

  3. monitoring Feb 18, 2021, 06:38 PM UTC

A fix has been implemented and we are monitoring the results.

  4. resolved Feb 18, 2021, 08:14 PM UTC

We have been monitoring network activity at the EAST-1 site and this issue appears to be resolved. In working with our network provider, we found that we experienced an abnormally large amount of traffic that was patterned much like a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack. We implemented a change to block access to our network range from the attacking parties and once we did so our utilization and services returned to normal. We are continuing to monitor the traffic across all our sites and will implement additional measures if warranted. If you have questions or are continuing to experience any issues, please contact us via our support portal at https://support.layer27.com or via e-mail at [email protected].
