At 8:25pm PST our web traffic to the API dropped from around 700 requests/minute (which typically for our lower end of usage) to less than 150 requests per minute. We have found nothing else in our logs around this time connected with the issue. Then, at around 9:50pm PST our automated monitoring began to detect very intermittent timeouts (less than 4%) from our API. These did successfully trigger our outage alerts, however they were resolved within 5 minutes so did not result in an off-hours escalation. At around 12:55am PST an engineer attempted to login and received a maintenance page. This maintenance page should only be shown by our hosting infrastructure when our application is non-responsive or under maintenance, and would explain the low traffic. The engineer immediately restarted our server and the issue was resolved. At this point we believe the issue was related to a problem with our hosting provider and are working with them to identify the root cause.
