Our team released a performance related database change that was intended to run in the background during a low-usage period, and was run on the MLK holiday as a result. However the performance impact was larger than anticipated and caused a database-related performance degradation for approximately 8 minutes that caused slowdowns and issues with login and general app performance. We'll be conducting a 5-why's and implementing any improvements to our process to prevent this in the future.
