At approximately 11:23PM UTC, we experienced an outage in our US West deployment zone that affected the serving of API traffic. The outage lasted approximately 20 minutes, and all API request were returned with a 503 (busy) HTTP response. The outage was caused by a lack of memory resources triggered by a backlog processing very large messages. We have made changes to system to limit the memory used by these messages and should not see a recurrence of this issue.
